These images date from the mid-1980s. I don't know if the mining companies have managed to get in and wreck this place now. This is a very special place located in the Murchison district of Western Australia. It has been much written-about and has entries on a number of on-line information services. It is arguably one of the oldest working mines anywhere in the world. Ochre from this mine has been found in all parts of Australia, traded by hand for tens of thousands of years.
