I was Secretary of London Metropolitan Network Limited (LMN)<\/a>, now dissolved.<\/p>\n

I used to work at SOAS University of London<\/a> as Director of Library & Information Services (a converged-services directorate).<\/p>\n

One of the highlights of my time at SOAS was to establish the SOAS Digital Library<\/a>. The system was originally based on Open Source software called SobekCM<\/a> but has since been replaced.<\/p>\n

The SOAS Library<\/a> was the first in the UK to install an Open Source Library system called OLE (see below). This was part of a suite of Open Source Systems including, for example, the VuFind Discovery system<\/a> as its Library public interface (now replaced by https:\/\/soas.on.worldcat.org\/discovery<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The SOAS Library worked with Kuali<\/a> to implement its Open Source Library Management System.<\/p>\n

This has now transferred to the Open Library Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I previously worked for JISC<\/a> as its Director of Services.<\/p>\n

Before that, I was Head of ICT in ILS at the University of Greenwich<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A very, very<\/em> long time ago (well, in the 1970s), I worked in Community Access Video in Australia. Some former colleagues have recently put together a web-site documenting some of these activities<\/a> in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Look closely enough and you might<\/em> find some very early John Robinson lurking there.<\/p>\n
